    • RESEARCH PROGRESS OF TISSUE ENGINEERED NERVE GRAFTS

Objective To summarize the recent advance in the research of tissue engineered nerve grafts. Methods The cl inical and experimental research papers about tissue engineered nerve grafts were extensively reviewed and analyzed. Results The porosity, mechanical property and surface topography of a nerve scaffold, which was either made up of natural biodegradable polymers or synthetic polyesters, were pivotal factors that influenced the capacity of the scaffold in supporting nerve regeneration. Of various candidate supporting cells for nerve tissue engineering, the bone marrowmesenchymal stem cells had been paid more attention because of their advantages. Several model designs of drug del ivery systems for controlled release of growth factors had been attempted. In cl inical settings, short nerve gaps were demonstrated to be treatable with several nerve conduits which were commercially available, with functional recovery approximating tonerve autografting. Conclusion The field of nerve tissue engineering has witnessed a rapid development not only in experimental research but also in cl inical appl ication.

    • Research progress of paravalvular regurgitation for transcatheter aortic valve implantation

Transcatheter aortic valves implantation have been widely used in patients with high risk of non-surgical or surgical procedures since the first implantation in 2002, and have achieved good therapeutic results. However, as one of the main complications after transcatheter aortic valve implantation, paravalvular regurgitation seriously affects the outcome of patients. This article reviews recent researches on transcatheter aortic valve paravalvular regurgitation, and summarizes the influencing factors of paravalvular regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation and the corresponding countermeasures. This review can provide guidance and reference for clinical application and research of transcatheter aortic valves.

    • Progress and prospect of selective shunt for portal hypertension

Surgerical treatment has been used for portal hypertension over a hundred years, and has evolved from various portosystemic shunts to devascularizations and selective shunts. Selective shunting, which has the advantages of long-term prevention from recurrent variceal bleeding and maintenance of hepatic portal vein perfusion, has developed from single distal splenorenal shunt to various procedures including distal splenocaval shunt, coronary caval shunt, coronary renal shunt, etc. Selective shunting can also be achieved after reconstruction of spontaneous portosystemic shunt. Preoperative portal venous system CT angiography, intraoperative ultrasound Doppler and portal vein pressure measurements may provide patients with a more reasonable treatment of choice.

    • Research status of influencing factors of fear of disease progression in cancer patients

Cancer is a disease that incidence rate, disability rate and mortality rate are high all over the world. It brings great physical and mental pain to patients. Cancer patients are in a life-threatening state of disease for a long time, which will produce fear of progression (FoP). FoP is a psychological state in which fear of disease may recur or progress. As early as the 1980s, foreign countries began the psychological research on the FoP of cancer patients. They found that this fear really exists in cancer patients and is affected by many factors. This paper reviews the concept of FoP and the related factors affecting FoP in cancer patients. The purpose is to provide reference for clinical early evaluation and reducing the FoP of cancer patients and formulating corresponding nursing measures.

    • RESEARCH PROGRESS OF ARTIFICIAL TRACHEAL PROSTHESIS

Objective To review the research of the artificial tracheal prosthesis in the past decade so as to provide theoretical references for the development of the artificial tracheal prosthesis. Methods The l iterature about the artificial tracheal prosthesis was extensively reviewed and analyzed. Results Many new materials are used for the research of artificialtracheal prosthesis which have excellent biocompatibil ity and stabil ity of the structural characteristics. And many compl ications such as migration, obstruction, and infection have been resolved, but so far none of the new materials has been used for cl inical treatment successfully. Conclusion The choice of the materials for artificial tracheal prosthesis is the key to succeed. Biodegradable polymer materials with its unique biological properties become the new direction of the tracheal prosthesis research.

    • Research progress on correlation between febrile seizure and trace elements in children

Febrile seizure is one of the most common emergencies in children, accounting for about 30% of all types of children, and the most common among children aged 6 months to 5 years. At the same time, children in this age group are at the peak of growth and development, and the content of various trace elements in the body is prone to abnormalities. At present, there are few related studies on febrile seizure and trace elements in children. This paper summarizes the related studies on febrile seizure and trace elements in order to provide theoretical guidance for the prevention and treatment of febrile seizure

    • Progress of study on effect of postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy for patients with thymoma

Thymoma is aggressive and persistent, but does not belong to malignant tumors. In treatments, their optimal treatment protocols still need to be studied and how about the role and the place of use of postoperative radiotherapy is not clear. Some retrospective studies indicate a direction: for the first stage of thymoma, it is adequately treated with complete resection alone. For the second stage of the thymoma, postoperative radiotherapy needs further indications. For the third and fourth stages of thymoma, postoperative radiotherapy plays an important role. A research shows that the radiation dose at 50 Gy is suitable for microscopic tumors, and higher dose of radiation is suitable for macroscopic tumors. With the development of radiotherapy technology, its application scope becomes larger and larger. What kind of the role and the place for radiotherapy in the treatment of thymoma and what is the optimal management of thymoma need to be treated prudently.

    • Research status and progress of biomaterials for bone repair and reconstruction

Artificial bone repair material is the best substitute for autologous bone transplantation. Bone repair materials are constantly being replaced and upgraded, which can be roughly divided into three generations: bioinert materials, bioactive materials, and smart materials. Research and development of bone repair materials with multiple biological activities, in vivo degradation property that perfectly fit for new bone formation, and ability of complete reconstruction of bone tissue in physiological state are the focus of future research.

    • Research progress on augmentation repair of anterior talofibular ligament under arthroscopy

Objective To summarize the research progress on augmentation repair of anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) under arthroscopy. Methods The domestic and international studies from the past decade on augmentation repair techniques for the ATFL. The advantages and limitations of each approach were summarized and the outcomes of these augmentation repair techniques when applied to ATFL repair were evaluated. Results Mechanical augmentation technique (suture tape or internal brace technique, double anchor enhancement technique) can increase the strength after ATFL repair, but it will increase the economic burden of the patients; bioenhanced repair technology (inferior extensor retinaculum enhancement, anterior tibiofibular ligament’s distal fascicle transfer augmentation) can also increase the strength after ATFL repair, but it will damage the anatomical structure in the ankle cavity to a certain extent, and the surgery is difficult, and the operation time will prolong and also increase the incidence of perioperative complications. Regardless of the augmentation repair techniques used, the benefits are higher for patients with high exercise needs, and active postoperative rehabilitation is required to maximize the surgical effect. Conclusion Although augmentation repair of ATFL offers several advantages, its use—whether augmentation should be employed and, if so, which technique is preferable—requires further study across patient subgroups owing to increased costs, potential disruption of ankle anatomy, and longer operation time.
