    • Mechanism of immune checkpoint inhibitors related adverse events

      Most immune-related adverse event (irAE) associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) resulted from excessive immune response against normal organs. The severity, timing, and organs affected by these events were often unpredictable. Adverse reactions could cause treatment delays or interruptions, in rare cases, pose a life-threatening risk. The mechanisms underlying irAE involved immune cell dysregulation, imbalances in inflammatory factor expression, alterations in autoantibodies and complement activation, even dysbiosis of intestinal microorganisms. However, the mechanisms of irAE occurrence might differ slightly among organs due to variations in their structures and the functions of resident immune cells. Future research should focus on the development of targeted drugs for the prevention or treatment of irAE based on the mechanisms by which irAE occurs in different organs. A deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying irAE occurrence would aid clinicians in effectively utilizing ICIs and provide valuable guidance for their clinical application.

    • Systemic inflammatory response syndrome after radiofrequency ablation of hepatic hemangioma

      Radiofrequency ablation for hepatic hemangioma is safe and effective, and can obtain the same curative effect as traditional surgical resection. For hepatic hemangiomas with large volume, abundant arterial blood supply and long ablation time, systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) often occurs after radiofrequency ablation, which can lead to injury or dysfunction of important organs. This paper systematically summarizes the mechanism, prevention and treatment of SIRS after radiofrequency ablation of hepatic hemangioma, so as to provide reference for improving the safety of radiofrequency ablation of hepatic hemangioma.

    • Role of tumor associated macrophage in primary liver cancer and its related therapeutic application

      Objective To understand the role and mechanism of tumor associated macrophages (TAM) on the occurrence and development of primary liver cancer, and its application in the treatment. MethodThe related literatures about the researches of relation between TAM and primary liver cancer at home and abroad in recent years were collected, sorted out, and made a review. Results Under different stimulating factors, TAM could be polarized to anti-tumor type 1 TAMs or tumor-promoting type 2 TAMs, and type 2 TAMs was the main part in the tumor microenvironment. Through some mechanisms such as vascularity-promoting, invasion-promoting, and immunosuppression to promote the occurrence and development of tumors, and potential treatment plans for primary liver cancer could be found by targeting TAM from different perspectives. Conclusion TAM has a wide range of effects on primary liver cancer, and their mechanisms are complex, understanding the relation between them and make an effective control of TAM could provide new therapeutic ideas and plans for clinical treatment of primary liver cancer.

    • Target and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in acute pancreatitis

      Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common clinical emergency of the abdomen with increasing incidence and lack of effective treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine, as a treasure of the Chinese people, has been used in the treatment of AP for decades with favorable therapeutic effects. Currently, clinical trials and experimental studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine has the effects of inhibiting pancreatic enzyme activity, anti-inflammation, promoting gastrointestinal dynamics, as well as delaying the progress of AP, improving clinical symptoms, reducing related complications, and reducing the mortality rate. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine has considerable clinic value in treating AP. Based on the related research progress and clinical practice of our team, the authors summarized the targets and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in treating AP.

    • Study on the mesoscopic dynamic effects of tumor treating fields on cell tubulin

      Tumor treatment fields (TTFields) can effectively inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells, but its mechanism remains exclusive. The destruction of cellular microtubule structure caused by TTFields through electric field force is considered to be the main reason for inhibiting tumor cell proliferation. However, the validity of this hypothesis still lacks exploration at the mesoscopic level. Therefore, in this study, we built force models for tubulins subjected to TTFields, based on the physical and electrical properties of tubulin molecules. We theoretically analyzed and simulated the dynamic effects of electric field force and torque on tubulin monomer polymerization, as well as the alignment and orientation of α/β tubulin heterodimer, respectively. Research results indicate that the interference of electric field force induced by TTFields on tubulin monomer is notably weaker than the inherent electrostatic binding force among tubulin monomers. Additionally, the electric field torque generated by the TTFileds on α/β tubulin dimers is also difficult to affect their random alignment. Therefore, at the mesoscale, our study affirms that TTFields are improbable to destabilize cellular microtubule structures via electric field dynamics effects. These results challenge the traditional view that TTFields destroy the microtubule structure of cells through TTFields electric field force, and proposes a new approach that should pay more attention to the "non-mechanical" effects of TTFields in the study of TTFields mechanism. This study can provide reliable theoretical basis and inspire new research directions for revealing the mesoscopic bioelectrical mechanism of TTFields.

    • Analysis of current situation and key elements of medical examination control mechanism

      With the continuous promotion of China’s medical and health system reform, the problem of unreasonable medical examination has gradually become prominent after the elimination of “raising healthcare by medicine” and “raising healthcare by medical device”, which has become the core of aggravating the economic burden of patients’ diseases. Based on the current situation of medical examination control mechanism in China, this study explores the medical examination control mechanism including institutional restraint mechanism, supervision and management mechanism, quality control mechanism from external regulation and internal control, so as to regulate the medical examination behavior, realize the normalization of supervision and management, promote the continuous improvement of medical examination quality, in order to enhance the rationality of medical examination. It is expected to provide a theoretical basis for health departments to explore and perfect the control mechanism of the medical examination.

    • Research Progress on the Interaction Effects and Its Neural Mechanisms between Physical Fatigue and Mental Fatigue

      Fatigue is an exhaustion state caused by prolonged physical work and mental work, which can reduce working efficiency and even cause industrial accidents. Fatigue is a complex concept involving both physiological and psychological factors. Fatigue can cause a decline of concentration and work performance and induce chronic diseases. Prolonged fatigue may endanger life safety. In most of the scenarios, physical and mental workloads co-lead operator into fatigue state. Thus, it is very important to study the interaction influence and its neural mechanisms between physical and mental fatigues. This paper introduces recent progresses on the interaction effects and discusses some research challenges and future development directions. It is believed that mutual influence between physical fatigue and mental fatigue may occur in the central nervous system. Revealing the basal ganglia function and dopamine release may be important to explore the neural mechanisms between physical fatigue and mental fatigue. Future effort is to optimize fatigue models, to evaluate parameters and to explore the neural mechanisms so as to provide scientific basis and theoretical guidance for complex task designs and fatigue monitoring.

    • Research progress of long non-coding RNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 in diabetic retinopathy

      Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a serious complication of diabetes mellitus that not only impairs vision and quality of life but has also emerged as a leading cause of blindness in working-age individuals. Long non-coding RNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (LncMALAT1) is a non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression and has been implicated in the pathogenesis and progression of DR. It exerts its effects through the modulation of various pathological processes, including inflammation, oxidative stress, angiogenesis, and apoptosis. Notably, alterations in the expression levels of LncMALAT1 may serve as potential biomarkers for the early diagnosis of DR. Furthermore, interventions targeting LncMALAT1, employing antioxidants, anti-angiogenic agents, traditional Chinese medicine, and gene therapy, present promising avenues for its potential development as an effective therapeutic target for DR.
